Smoking vs. food addiction. Are they similar?

I used to be a smoker for 15 years and completely arrested five years ago. I gained 10 pounds from this process, it may not seem like much, but I needed to lose weight and have to win 10 just makes it more difficult. In total, I need to lose 20 pounds. Some things I noticed about smoking is a habit of having a cigarette with a drink or coffee. Or smoking after work. With all that said, I completely changed my habits and circle of friends and became a former smoker. Now I am losing weight my energy. I love being around people who care about their health. But I need help to find ways to stay thin … Help my sweet tooth without it being out of control. It seems stopping smoking is easier because it elliminated your life. The food is there for you to stay alive … What do you think?

Unlike other addictions .. Food is something you you have to stay alive .. So its much more problematic as a dependency -. Cigs you can avoid and still live -. Alcohol, you can avoid and still live -. Drugs, you can avoid and even live .. And each of these dependencies .. you know good and well when you are down because there no other reason to take part in them. Not like people are hiding in your water. :) The food is however a totally different villain. You have to eat .. but each person is different in how much is needed and what foods are best for them. Some people do better plan protien high while others need a balanced diet with more carbohydrates. Is a bowl of ice cream a week "to fall the wagon "? or is it two?:) So that all dependencies are essentially the same .. a food addiction is much harder to manage and control. As to beat your sweet tooth .. When craving something sweet .. do not go for anything with corn syrup because it is no filling and a slight dependence on its own. Try to eat sugary foods to crush your desires with real sugar in them and try to eat Three bites at a sitting. You can always eat more later if you absolutely need. :) Also avoid fake sugar, they make you feel like sugar.

coffee diuretic caffeine
The coffee itself is the diuretic, or is it the caffeine in coffee?

If I drink decaf coffee, it is still a diuretic?

Caffeine, not necessarily a diuretic a belief long held the coffee may be on the way to be rebutted. Sports nutritionists and physiologists often counsel active people to avoid caffeine because it could act as as a diuretic and therefore negative effects on performance and health. A study published in June 2005 in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise metabolism examined the effects of daily consumption of caffeine in 59 healthy men. For the first 6 days of the study, all participants consumed 3 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight. On days 7 to 11, they were randomly assigned to receive no caffeine, or 3 or 6 mg of caffeine per kilogram of body weight. Whatever the dose of caffeine, the participants "all measures of hydration and electrolyte balance were within normal limits. These findings challenge the longstanding belief that, when consumed regularly, caffeine acts as a diuretic.

coffee overdose
(Caffeine Overdose) Do I see a doctor?

This is not a big overdose, but the context. I took a pill regime (Liporexall, which caffeine content of about 3 cups of standard coffee) with Red Bull (the contents of a cup of coffee a little more than a standard). I know that the lethal dose is 50 + cups standard, but diet pills are things strange effect on the metabolism of caffeine. I am very, very nervous and excited, fast heart beat, but it is not illegal. Thoughts?

I have no experience with that, but my hunch is that if the rapid heartbeat do not leave in a few minutes or if you feel that something unexpected, you must call 911. You have nothing to lose with a phone call and everything to lose from a heart attack. Err on the side of safety.

Italian espresso coffee vs regular / / cholesterol?

I just bought an "Italian coffee maker" thought its a coffee maker that you use on the stove. I want a cup of coffeee from time to time, but my father pointed out to me and I read on line that its really make espresso. I'm pretty health conscious, so if I KNO I wanted a filter to make regular coffee with her (this IVE done before that with another manufacturer like that) will be to reduce cholesterol – Ness? lol> _ <Do not laugh, but I heard on MSNBC when you must use a filter, even with machines capuucino because without it you can increase your cholesterol .. (Significant difference) is so different from what cappuccino thing I heard? Can I make regular coffee and not worry about it? Or .. I just you return it and get a little regular coffee machine?

When I first heard of this one … Filter reduces cholesterol from coffee? Is there a lot of cholesterol in coffee to start? If yes, how a paper or mesh filter, making it more healthy. I think it's a great myth. I sometimes beer 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee in a coffee brewing empty. It uses a mesh filter and made cups of excellent coffee. I buy coffee at www.FASTCAFE.com Good luck:)
